From slinging pancakes to singing on national TV, Kalvin Jarvis is just at the beginning of an already awe-inspiring music career. A native of Tucson, Arizona, Kalvin learned a love of music from the rap stylings of his father, inspired by his collaborations with rappers like Kid Rock and Eminem. As a teen, he joined his high school choir and began to learn vocal skills that were outside of his father’s expertise and continued to feed the fire of his passion for music.
In 2019, he finally caught a break that would launch his professional singing career. Out of more than 240 singers, Kalvin was named the grand prize winner of the Tucson “Voice” auditions and became the lone recipient of an all-expense paid trip to regional auditions in L.A.. There he auditioned with the gutsy choice of the blind audition song, “A Good Night,” which was applauded by both Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine. He earned a spot on the internationally watched CBS television series by choosing Adam Levine as his mentor.
Kalvin’s deep voice and smooth stylings made him an audience favorite. His stint on “The Voice,” took him all the way through to the top 24, a lot farther than many other great performers. On one of his last performances, Levine called it “a front-runner’s performance,” and “unreal.”
Now, Kalvin is sharing his musical gift with the world
