“If it was the last day on earth, yeah, I’m going to make it worth every second that I got left” Those are words to live by — or at least the ones that Kansas Stone live by and set to song for their campfire-vibe lilting new single, “Blaze of Nothing,” which begins with whistles, snaps and oohs.
The Barrie, Ontario-based duo of Brian John Harwood (BJ) and Matt Davey (Matty) really do enjoy those sorts of evenings. They are cottage-country, country boys. “This is my paradise, just me and the stars and the fireflies,” Brian sings.
Sunshine, the lake, a bonfire, BBQ and good friends is all they need to be happy. But their lives are about to get a lot less chill, as they sign their first record deal and are set to play music festivals this summer while they work on completing their debut album with producer Dave “Dwave” Thomson, slated for a fall release.
Best friends for the last 10 years, Matt says, “As soon as we’re done with work and normal life stuff, music is what we love to do.” Echoes Brian: “It’s something we love. It just makes us happy.”
Kansas Stone was warmly welcomed in the country music community. They opened for such country stars as Dallas Smith, Brothers Osborne, Drake White and Many more who were ready with advice and encouraging words. Our fans are the best,” says Brian, “the country scene is so welcoming and more like a family. We love playing on stage and seeing our fans sing the words back to us, that’s everything to us.”
