Hi, I'm Kara. I grew up terribly insecure. I could give you a laundry list of reasons why, but to cut to the chase, I feel that in many ways being an actor & an artist saved me. The love for creation itself forced me out of my own way. There was no choice but to be seen & to embrace myself, flaws & all, if I wanted to share my songs & my scenes, which felt like the only thing worth risking inevitable shame for. In a divine twist of fate or luck, I found myself in Los Angeles, on stage & on camera, without anywhere to run or any way to hide.
With lifelong insecurities I fought at long last falling to the wayside, I was left to confront the gaping part of myself that felt that if I worked myself to the ground, was undoubtedly successful, had endless friends, & never disappointed anybody, I would finally be enough.
My songs are my story. One of self-discovery. One of finally stepping into my own power & reclaiming my self-worth after years & possibly lifetimes of having lost it.
I wrote these songs almost as mantras to myself in my darkest moments, speaking to the recovering people-pleaser, perfectionist, & anxious workaholic within. If you can at all relate, I hope this collection of music reminds you that you are more than enough exactly as you are, without having to strive & without having to be everything to everyone.
