KARAVANN mixes pop and dance music with singer/songwriter elements into a varied potpourri.
The band was founded in 2014 by Fabian Imper (keys, backings) and <a href="spotify:artist:58b7ah7ekcjMDdqRXp0VrK" data-name="Tobias Jensen">Tobias Jensen</a> (guitars, backings). The name of the band metaphorically describes how the two musicians roamed through foreign lands in order to meet new companions on their musical journey.
For their debut album <a href="spotify:album:5uGzYOnVDSo9kqPRoROyJG" data-name="Desert Tunes">Desert Tunes</a> they worked with producer Fred Herrmann. Most of the vocals came from the Australian singer Ryan Sanders, who joined the "caravan" for their first record. Their songs <a href="spotify:track:5DpjEDJSydz3plXRqwK46B" data-name="Gimme Love">Gimme Love</a>, <a href="spotify:track:3s5ZSFrQMZB9SDEu0kHIHq" data-name="All We Need Is Us">All We Need Is Us</a> and <a href="spotify:track:6U21ZsnqxnlK6SvcIj2SBa" data-name="Carry Your Universe">Carry Your Universe</a> have been played regularly on various Swiss radio stations ever since.
Soon afterwards Roger Hintermann (drums) and Stephan Vonwiller (bass) joined the band to breathe even more life into their live shows. Some of the band's previous highlights have been concerts at renowned festivals such as the Gurten Festival in Bern, Moon & Stars in Locarno and the Stars in Town in Schaffhausen. They gained further live experience as the opening act for <a href="spotify:artist:6IWxOu9w3PtIpLa7A178ad" data-name="Pegasus">Pegasus</a> as part of their sold out “Beautiful Life” tour.
On their way into 2020 they eventually met the newest member of the caravan: the South African singer and instrumentalist Byron Spillman. The fruits of this inspiring collaboration can be heard here.
