Born in Livorno, a vibrant seaside town in Tuscany, Karima grew up immersed in music and culture. She first came to national attention in 2006 as a contestant on *Amici*, where her powerful, soulful voice immediately stood out. That same year, she signed her first record deal and released her debut EP.
In 2009, Karima competed at Italy’s *Festival di Sanremo* and began a long-lasting collaboration with the legendary Burt Bacharach — the only Italian artist for whom Bacharach ever wrote and produced songs. Their work together led to her first full-length album, *Karima*, recorded in Los Angeles.
Her career has since included collaborations with Disney (*The Princess and the Frog* soundtrack), opening performances for Whitney Houston and John Legend, and appearances on major Italian TV shows such as *Tale e Quale Show* and *I Migliori Anni*.
Representing Italy at international festivals with Umbria Jazz, Karima has become known for her dynamic blend of jazz, soul, and pop. In 2021, she released *No Filter* (Jando Music), an explosive fusion of genres featuring Gabriele Evangelista, Bernardo Guerra, and Piero Frassi.
Her 2022 album *Xmas* (Emme Record Label) reimagines beloved Christmas classics with elegance and warmth.
In 2025, Karima embarked on tour with her new project *Karima Canta Autori*, a heartfelt tribute to Italian songwriting, featuring reinterpretations of iconic tracks by Pino Daniele, Umberto Bindi, Mario Venuti, and Edoardo De Crescenzo.
