Karl Frid

Karl Frid is a composer, producer and arranger from Stockholm, Sweden. His vast knowledge in music ranges from classical and jazz to Latin and pop music.

Since 2011 Karl has been working closely with his brother, <a href="spotify:artist:6Z3H9EfIMZ61fTQV9VphzT" data-name="Pär Frid">Pär Frid</a> under the name <a href="spotify:artist:7pwYSX6nwYfHZJS8CpNwwj" data-name="Frid &amp; Frid">Frid &amp; Frid</a>. They primarily write music for film and TV and have scored several features and tv-series of different genres. In 2018 they were nominated in the category best music at the Swedish Film Institute’s award ”Guldbaggen” for the score of the documentary <a href="spotify:album:4SLYBuRCSBSV0xJKgPts5t" data-name="Citizen Schein (Original Soundtrack)">Citizen Schein (Original Soundtrack)</a>. They have also composed the orchestral score for <a href="spotify:album:02fG8sn4sM7HqpNHiPsKa1" data-name="Quick (Original Soundtrack)">Quick (Original Soundtrack)</a> and 80&#39;s TV drama <a href="spotify:album:0K1OjQWE1kdE3Xgf7NetVg" data-name="Sommaren 85 (Musiken från TV-serien)">Sommaren 85 (Musiken från TV-serien)</a>. Karl’s latest work for film is the feature Pleasure, by Ninja Thyberg, which was in the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival 2020 and later premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2021, where it received outstanding reviews with special mentions of the score. At the Gothenburg Film Festival the film was awarded the FIPRESCA Award by the international critics jury.

Karl is a longtime member of Swedish latin group <a href="spotify:artist:2e6cE2efCe83qgcAd8mlWU" data-name="Calle Real">Calle Real</a> They have received acclaimed reviews and attention around the world for their concert shows and albums and is today considered as one of the best latin groups in Europe. Karl is also a member of <a href="spotify:artist:5MhL5v5b7XSLDIwNgLtwwQ" data-name="Platina Jazz">Platina Jazz</a> a Swedish jazz group performing original arrangements of Japanese anime music. For several years Karl was a touring member of Swedish jazz-electronica duo <a href="spotify:artist:7wyBxBXLVLaiF2jxHCpvTe" data-name="Koop">Koop</a>
