Kasiika (pronounced Kas-ee-ka), is an Independent singer, songwriter and musician. The stage name Kasiika is wordplay on her name Karthika with a French twist. Her tracks blend elements of Pop, R&B, UK Grime and Dance.
Kasiika’s family fled the Sri-Lankan civil war when she was 10 to the urban playground of Tooting in South London. Here she was challenged by a new culture and music style. She was successfully selected for the Bach Choir who recognised her vocal ability. She performed in venues as celebrated as the Royal Albert Hall. In her teens she also pursued her love of urban music and joined a rap group as the solo vocalist and quickly her talents were realised.
Kasiika's debut EP “Better now” includes solo tracks and collaborations with UK artists Ayo Beatz and DJ Ironik. Her songs are fresh, musically adept and addictive. She launched her EP to a packed Megaro Bar in Kings Cross in June 2018, playing live acoustic with a neon lit grand piano. She performed at the London Mela mainstage in 2018 and her highlight so far is performing at The Main Stage in Trafalgar Square for Diwali In London 2019. She is supported by BBC Radio Asian Network DJs Ashanti Omkar and Bobby Friction. She was chosen as BBC introducing artist of the week and her title track 'Better Now' was track of thr week. "Hideaway" and "Own it" were getting regular airplay at the BBC. Her latest Summer party release 'Summer Love' is out now on all usual outlets. Follow for new releases coming soon! ✨️
