I was born in Louisiana, grew up in New York and now I’m based in London. My southern country-folk roots come from my dad (who as a young man once played on stage with Hank Williams!)
I spend too much time wandering around inside my head and to some extent I write songs to quiet the thought storms and find my balance in the world.
For me, music is about emotion. I think there can be something incredibly beautiful about being connected to a strong emotion even if it’s a really sad one - often especially if it’s a really sad one.
I hope that whatever people get from my music, they’ll be moved. I hope that they’ll find something that is beautiful and truthful. I don’t think that you can connect with any real emotion without truth.
