Katya is a singer-songwriter from Winnipeg, Canada with a modern sound rooted in R&B and pop. Born to musical parents, Katya was introduced to diverse genres at a young age, including R&B, soul, and classic rock. While growing up and finding her own unique musical taste in the realm of hip hop, Katya simultaneously studied classical piano and voice until the age of 16, then went on to teach at a well-known local music school. It was through her musical upbringing and love for the art that she found her natural talent in songwriting. Her influences range from the lyrical sounds of Jhené Aiko, to the bouncy cadences from Aminé, all the way to the complex musical compositions of Queen. Katya’s been featured on Canadian and international hiphop artists’ works and has performed alongside respected artists in the local hiphop scene. She released her first solo track in 2019 and has since been gaining a steady, loyal following. Katya’s debut EP is set to be released later this year.
