Kayce Guthmiller is a violist, songwriter, and improviser native to Boise, Idaho. Currently based in Seattle, WA, they graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in 2021 where they explored unlearning the restraint of their classical training and embraced experimentation and intuitive composing.
Kayce was featured on Chris Thile’s Live From Here in 2020 and wrote, produced, and self-released their debut album in the solitude 2021, "the slow." Recorded with home studio equipment, a viola, and five days alone in an Airbnb on Whidbey Island, the album eased into being as a sparse, nostalgic homage to memory, the wounds of childhood, isolation, and the sweetness of connection and recalling home.
