Canadian born - NZ raised, singer-songwriter Keeley Shade churns visual lyricism through abstract Alt-Pop production and Indie-Rock instrumentation.
In recent years she has brought live shows to The Civic’s Wintergarden, The FIFA stage at The Cloud, Sofar Sounds, and Big Fan after receiving a Music in Venues Grant from NZ Music Commission to support emerging female artists who double as producers.
Giving new meaning to ‘independent artist’, with degrees in fine art, music, and film, she brings depth and experimental creativity to her songwriting and self produced visuals.
Shade’s debut single On My Mind received acclamation from media and landed a spot on the Hot NZ Singles Top 20 and NZ On Air’s New Tracks. Follow-up EP Give Me Time also charted in the Top 20 NZ Albums alongside local heavy hitters. NZ Musician has compared her to Chelsea Jade, The XX, and Holly Humberstone, deeming her as ‘already an accomplished songwriter.’ CLOUT writes of her latest release, Restless, ‘Effortlessly moving vocals and poignant lyrical imagery of the artist, making for a lush alternative pop sound that packs as much substance as it does style.’
