KeMpho

Mpho was born on the 4th of October 1986 at Soshanguve, Pretoria. Her Stage Name is KeMpho, which translates to “am a Gift’. Like most Singers, KeMpho started singing at a very young age at church. She was part of the Young people’s division (YPD) which is the choir only made up of the youth at an age of 14. She participated in the singing competitions like Star forte of which she was a runner-up in 2004, She was only 18 years of age.

Kempho released her two debut singles titled Family and Reitumetse @, which is dedicated to her daughter Reitumetse. The two songs were produced by JRoss who is an international award-winning music producer. She is currently busy working on her EP that will be released later this year.

Kempho mentions that she loves singing about Family as it is the closest thing to her heart, hence her two recorded first songs are all about her Family.

Kempho’s music is classified loosely as “Afro-soul” or Afro-Pop and she sings in her native language Sesotho, as well as in English. Her music has been described as a mixture of styles popularized by the Legendary Zonke Dikana and Kelly Khumalo.
