Kenny Florence

Kenny Florence is a North Carolina based singer-songwriter and producer. Formerly a member of the bands Annuals and Sunfold, Florence began releasing solo material in the fall of 2018 with his EP "Seconds to Dawn," a short collection of stripped-down, ephemeral acoustic songs. Florence's sensibilities weave together singer-songwriter intimacy with the sparkly guitar tones and irregular rhythms of Midwest emo and at times the driving heaviness and breathy vocals of early 90s alternative rock and shoegaze.

Florence is also a composer of contemporary classical music and releases this material under his full name: Kenneth Michael Florence. Using this artistic outlet to explore the more far-reaching and experimental side of his musical personality, Florence casts a wide net, taking influence from traditions as disparate as Renaissance polyphony to 20th century minimalism. Always seeking to unite head and heart, Florence merges hyper-complexity with raw emotion immediacy, with an ever-present nod toward the exploration of the spiritual in art.
