Khalid Brooks is a rising star in the hip hop industry hailing from Tacoma, Washington. Born in 1994, KB’s early childhood was marked by frequent moves around the Los Angeles area with his mother, ultimately settling in the San Fernando Valley’s Canoga Park neighborhood.
Growing up as the middle child, KB was no stranger to adversity and responsibility. When he was just 8 years old, his mother met and married his stepfather, with whom KB would go on to have two younger sisters. However, this newfound family was not to last, as KB’s stepfather attempted to take his mother’s life in a violent incident. Thankfully, KB was able to intervene and save his mother, but the trauma of this event would shape his life in ways he couldn’t yet imagine.
With his stepfather behind bars and his mother struggling with her health, KB stepped up to become a surrogate father figure for his sisters, taking on the responsibilities of cooking, cleaning, and driving them to school. Music became a solace for KB during this tumultuous period, as he constantly turned to his iPod to escape and vent his feelings. He began playing the violin and trumpet at a young age, which would lay the foundation for his future career as a producer and songwriter.
It was during this time that KB discovered his passion for music and his own unique voice as an artist. He began producing and recording his own music, honing his skills as a musician and developing his own distinct sound.
