Khold is a Norwegian black metal band characterized by a primal, old-school sound (reminiscent of Darkthrone) and an unusual tendency towards mid-paced tempos, rather than the genre's ever popular blastbeats. Formed in Oslo, in the year 2000, by vocalist/guitarist Gard, guitarist Rinn, bassist Eikind and drummer Sarke, Khold made their debut the following year with the album Masterpiss of Pain, released by Moonfog Records. Five more albums followed: 2002's Phantom, 2003's Mørke Gravers Kammer, 2005's Krek, 2008's Hundre År Gammal and 2014's Til Endes, but the group subsequently went on indefinite hiatus so that its members could explore other projects.
2022 saw the return of Khold with the album "Svartsyn".
2024 brings the new album “Du dømmes til Død”, again released via Soulseller Records and recorded, mixed and mastered by Andy La Rocque at Sonic Train Studios, Sweden.
The band’s eight full-length is a concept album about henchmen and various people being condemned to the death penalty throughout Norwegian history. Musically, you know what´s being offered: down-tuned and mid-paced metal with no compromises whatsoever. Groovy, melodic and loads of heavy riffs – KHOLD sounds like nothing else, and that´s exactly the way it should be. And it´s how it will remain.
