Born in Yucatan, Mexico, and raised in Oxnard, California, Kidd Spin is a DJ and producer with a wide range of experience in music. His father has been in "grupos" since the '80s and was even signed to Del-Fi [Ritchie Valens, etc.] and his grandfather was a singer, guitarist, and composer. Spin was a member of bands (as a DJ and percussionist) while in high school and college and got to share stages with bands such as Fishbone, The Mars Volta, and Hot Hot Heat.
Kidd Spin's DJing career started in 1997 when he fell in love with house music. In 2003 he became a DJ for radio station KCAQ in Ventura, California. As a radio DJ, making edits and his own versions of tracks got him a role at DJcity as an editor/remixer and later the site's music director. Since then, his production has helped him land official remixes for Matoma, Sak Noel, and Pitbull. In 2015 Spin joined Pitbull's Globalization on Sirius XM as the DJ for the daily "Rush Hour Mix." In 2019 DJcity partnered with Beatport to create Beatsource - a streaming service for open-format DJs - to which Kidd Spin serves as the head of curation.
