Kidnapped by Gypsies

Kidnapped by Gypsies is a South African rock band based in Alberton, Johannesburg which consists of Craig Pietropaolo on lead vocals and bass guitar, Edwin Odendaal on guitar and backing vocals and Travis Burrows on drums.

The band was formed in 2016 by Odendaal and Burrows and went through various line-up changes over the years before establishing themselves as the power trio attacking the stages of South Africa today. Reputable nationwide venues such as Bailey’s Live, Jarr Bar, Railways Café, Rumours Lounge/Rock City, Rusty Hook, Smoking Dragon Festivals, Sundowners and The Texas Bar have all played gracious hosts to the band’s professional, energetic and captivating live rock experience – influenced by the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

The band self-produced and released their debut single ‘Forest Moon’ on 12 June, 2020 which has been played over 250 times across South African radio stations including PUK 93.6 FM, Radio Today 1485 AM, Zone Radio 88.5 FM, Mix 93.8 FM, Kovsie 97.0 FM and LM Radio 702 AM. The follow-up single, ‘Animal’ was released on 7 October, 2022.

Kidnapped by Gypsies is a registered member of the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) and all members are registered with the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO), the Composers, Authors and Publishers Association (CAPASSO) and the South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA).
