Music has always been more than sound to Kiko—it’s a language, a way expression beyond words.
Growing up, He was always surrounded by rhythms that covered the world over, from the ever growing Afrobeat scene in Uganda, to the Caribbean music his mother would play on the way home from school, to the Hip-hop/rap that would at times play on the radios.
However, it wasn’t til later on in life that Kiko took a deep dive into music that, he then began to discover a love for it.
It was only after Kikobeku discovered the Nigerian sensation, Asake , that he truly fell in love with African music. And after his first year in higher education, Kikobeku decided to take on the pursuit of becoming the voice that shapes modern East African music.
Kikobeku isn’t a person in nature, but stands to be a movement. That if you want something bad enough, you’ve got to go out there and get it. He stands to redefine what Ugandan and East African music can be, and how the it is perceived by the world.
