Restless in the confines of nu metal, frontman <a href="spotify:artist:1VW5tZ9pmSb2rG0GmSELwW">Jonathan Davis</a> crossed borders by incorporating dubstep for <a href="spotify:artist:3RNrq3jvMZxD9ZyoOZbQOD">Korn</a>'s 2011 album, The Path of Totality, before announcing that he would be taking it a step further with his upcoming Killbot project. Under the alias J Devil, he teamed up with producers Sluggo and Tyler Blue to record a four-song EP that featured hard-hitting dubstep wobble, accompanied by underground electronic and emo influences. In the same way that <a href="spotify:artist:2tRsMl4eGxwoNabM08Dm4I">Judas Priest</a> vocalist <a href="spotify:artist:7CTjkl9M3enzBBfm1u10Sy">Rob Halford</a>'s foray into electro-rock confounded metalheads, the music of Killbot polarized <a href="spotify:artist:1VW5tZ9pmSb2rG0GmSELwW">Davis</a>' fan base, with metalhead purists insisting it was too drastic a departure and others greeting it favorably.
