Kimpoy Rivera

Kimpoy is a Filipino Pop singer-songwriter from Laguna, Philippines. He started singing at a young age but never truly actively made any music until after moving to the US in 2013 when he started uploading some of his cover songs in the streaming platform SoundCloud. To aid him in some of his covers, he then decided to learn basic piano chords which allowed him to discover his passion for songwriting.

Never looking at music as a possible career path, things started to change in 2020 when he started going live on livestreaming apps. Through this, he gained some support from the online community which in turn fueled his drive and his confidence to keep creating music.

With regards to his songwriting style, Kimpoy writes mostly songs that speak from his experiences in life. He enjoys writing songs that slowly builds up from a slow-mellow sound to a grand climax towards the end. As an artist he firmly believes that above all, commitment to music and honesty to the lyrics is of utmost importance to achieve a satisfying record. Understanding that not all the time one could write a hit, he believes that as long as one stays true to his roots, and that he has a firm grasp of what he believes in, everything else will fall into place. He is also a passionate believer that the future of OPM lies in the hands of both artists and the listeners. He believes that balance must be achieved between these two without compromising one’s integrity – for both provides life to the other.
