Born in Polokwane, South Africa, raised just outside the city by a music meister father and a spiritual mother, Hero fell in love with music at an early age. Spending time with his father who used to play a lot of 70s & 80s jazz, Afro Pop, disco, R&B etc, combined with the gospel music played by his mother, they forged a rhythmic, soulful and intensively melodic legend in the making.
Started making music in 2010 with a group of friends the Snazzy Beavers Family to being a solo artist in 2018 after releasing a combined mix tape called I Am That I Am, promoting shows and grabbing a lot of local attention. His latest release DANKO LEKOMPO EP embodies a work of evolution, one can now describe him as 'too chamelionic to be tidily arranged into one category'. He's a LEKOMPO artist inspired by sounds and stories from all over. His sound is theurapatic, calm, enlightening and full of catchy raps and choruses, and has furthermore developed a more edgy and rowdy approach.
Some of his biggest inspirations hail from Lionel Richie, Tracy Chapman, Brenda Fassie, Makhadzi, King Monada, Chico Thwala to Kygo, Burna Boy, Drake, Cassper Nyovest.
