KingMel, is a rising talent in the rnb/soul industry. His sultry sound and heartfelt lyrics speaks to his passion for meaningful music.

Born and raised in New Jersey, KingMel’s (Birth Name Jamel Powell) love for music spawned from his parents, with his mother introducing him to gospel, and his father introducing him to the world of hip hop and rap. Collectively, they brought Jamel in the world of RNB.

Jamel started music in 2021, releasing his EP titled 90s Mixtape, which was a collection of cover songs of various 90s and early 2000s artists. Though he gained a following with his rendition of “Real Love” by Mary J. Blige, the EP was a minimal success.

Jamel later took a break from music to focus on his education, but came back in the fall of 2024 by releasing his debut album, The Book of Mel. The album features his most popular song to date, DL, among others notable songs like Toxic Hours, Bruises, and Movin On.

Now under the name KingMel, Jamel has since released a deluxe Edition of The Book Of Mel, and is now working on his new album, Sensual.
