Kira Lynn Cain is a California based singer, artist, and illustrator. Drawing comparisons to David Lynch, Philip Glass, and Sergio Leone, Cain crafts understatedly dramatic, innocent, ominous songs and illustrations. As a student of the San Francisco Art Institute and later as a resident of the California mountain community of Nevada City, Cain was influenced by the Psychedelic and Freak Folk scenes happening with classmates and neighbors Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom, Tahiti Pehrson, and the Moore Bros.
Cain's debut album of original songs, The Ideal Hunter was released in 2008 and earned a spot on NPR's all Songs Considered, as well as critical acclaim from national publications such as SPIN and AMG. Her illustrations can be seen in books, magazines, galleries and hotels.
