From half-way house stoops, Bellevue’s basement, hospital psych wards and the dirty benches of NYC, K!lly !dol is born. Growing up in the screaming basements of New Brunswick’s local music scene, emo is a steady part of his diet. And it is emblematic of his inner-turmoil.
At this hour, one views nothing more than screens as the daily meal. Amid curiosity and controversy in the social and political parameters of our day, K!lly !dol endeavors to play what he wants. Loud guitars are something you’ve heard lessers say are the “essence of their sound.” K!lly disagrees.
For now one must venture beyond the normal confines of sound to understand the message laden in his material. K!lly has come not to intimidate, or reprimand for listening to such drek as Top 40 feel-good. Hell, he loves those guilty pleasures as much as the next. But K!lly wants to be an entirely new shining light; a unique beacon.
Folk, rock, emo, RnB, hip-hop and Americana, there’s something like YUNGBLUD-meets-Death Cab-meets-The Bravery involved in his makeup. And yet—all sinister overtones aside—the young and virile K!lly !dol wishes to invoke the youth present in his listener. And wants to stand up inside of that individual, stretching out to make room so as to reside there listen after listen after listen.
