Known Bloom is a group of four longtime friends from Chesapeake and Richmond VA that play punk music together.
On their eight-song debut, “Throw-Away Places,” you’ll hear a multitude of different approaches to hardcore rarely explored or celebrated in 2024. This is a release for anyone who wants to hear more bands pulling from Shotmaker and Born Against. But Known Bloom still take care to avoid becoming predictable or stuck in the mire of photocopy inspiration. Atonal guitar licks reminiscent of Today Is The Day highlight “Tools Of Distraction,” and their rhythm section weave bridges that feel like they’re pulled from lost Ink & Dagger tracks, especially on “Insecurities”.
