Knyves Escobar is a singer, multi instrumentalist and producer. With dark themes throughout her writing, and a sound that can be described as a mix between alternative and soul, she draws inspiration from artists like Hayley Williams, Radiohead, Grizzly Bear, Jai Paul, James Blake, Solange and Frank Ocean.
The daughter of Salvadoran immigrants, Knyves was born in Silver Spring, MD. In high school she began making silly little guitar covers using the DAW, Audacity, and posting them on SoundCloud for attention from her crushes. (It didn’t work) but it garnered enough attention that she felt the need to keep going. She began learning production from other artist friends, and eventually began releasing music as Knyves in 2018. For two years before the pandemic she gained high praise from the music scenes in DC and Baltimore, being featured in multiple articles and interviews, and began traveling to perform in other large cities such as New York and Philadelphia.
