Their music takes a cue from the american underground scene, more specifically, from the underground New Jersey-rock. The band pens lyrics about the everyday life, nostalgia and other sorrows and sources of joy over catchy guitar melodies and clear nods to country, rock and punk alike.
Kompass came into existence in the living room of vocalist and bassplayer Eivinn Arctander as a solo-project. Since then the addition of Magnus Karoliussen has made the project into a full collaborative band with a solid high-tempo sound. Their lyrics focus on storytelling and and the world around them, blanketed in the nostalgia that so often covers young artists eyes.
The band primarily gathers inspiration from bands and artists like The Gaslight Anthem, Brian Fallon, Bruce Springsteen, The Menzingers, Jason Isbell and The Hold Steady, but mixes these into their own sound. Karoliussens great melodic sense and Arctanders almost annoying vocal range for an "old" punk makes the band a good and interesting addition to the norwegian rock scene.
