Inspired by the likes of Talking Heads, Chic, Sly Stone, Peter Gabriel, Roy Ayers and New Order, Kowloon crafts his own unique blend of funky, bass-forward indie pop with stream-of-consciousness lyricism and a distinct croon that seems to float above the music.
This nostalgia and heartbreak obsessed project takes its name, fittingly, from Hong Kong’s Kowloon Walled City - what was once the most densely populated place on earth but now exists only in memory and the Kodachromes of the past.

Kowloon emerged from seemingly nowhere with his 2021 album, ‘Come Over.’ Blending liquid bass-lines, driving drums, vintage synths, guitars and the detached-romanticism of his vocals, his songs quickly gained traction on Spotify and have been featured on ‘New Music Friday Dance’, ‘Fresh Finds’, ‘Fresh Finds: Best of Indie 2021’, and ‘Today’s Indie Rock’ editorial playlists, to name a few. He has also received support from KCRW, NPR, Kitsuné Musique, VI/NYL Japan, EARMILK, This Song is Sick and Glide Magazine.

Kowloon plays all of the parts and writes, records and produces surrounded by vintage drum machines, tape decks, racks of compressors and early digital effects units in his new state-of-the-art studio.

His sophomore album is coming soon.
