KROKODILES are 19 year olds Liam Vilding and Gaute Lykseth. They met aged 14 at a youth activity center in their hometown of Porsgrunn, Norway. The boys immediately hit it off, initially bonding over a love for rap artist Lil Peep, before discovering they also both were into singer/songwriters such as Elliott Smith and Phil Elverum.
A year after meeting KROKODILES self-released their first single «Skydiving», aged only 15. Two years of songwriting and playing shows in their local area, the duo followed this up with their first mini album «WILLOW TREE». Their carefully crafted songs, and the minimalistic, yet sophisticated arrangements showcase an artistic maturity well beyond their years.
- Even before we wrote our first song together, we had agreed to compose a debut album about death . «WILLOW TREE» was written and recorded over a period of one and a half years, the boys explain.
The band has so far been championed by key DJs at NRK P3 (Norway’s equivalent to the BBC 6), and leading culture magazine Natt & Dag described them like this:
«That two 17 year olds can write songs as great and refined as this, is almost as unlikely as their melancholy hero Elliot Smith managed to stab himself in the heart».
KROKODILES have already played several shows in and around their hometown of Porsgrunn, including the major local festival Sommerfesten. They can play live as a duo, or with a backing band, depending on their mood and/or the occasion.
