Kthona (ex-<a href="spotify:artist:1liwWDNbXG5qcVBm0ES0Nb" data-name="Chasing Embers">Chasing Embers</a>) - Ukrainian Nu Metal band.
As Chasing Embers, the band released their first single <a href="spotify:album:33tRqGfFh1BLSm6McQhBS9" data-name="Silent House">Silent House</a> on 22 October 2018. The song was well received and was picked by Spotify editorial playlist <a href="spotify:playlist:37i9dQZF1DXdiUbJTV2anj" data-name="New Blood">New Blood</a>, while the music video for this single has got more than 60 000 views on YouTube. During the recording of their first album, band’s singer Julie Tallina has also featured on two songs in official <a href="spotify:album:5h4WF5PmotSKHSYDlCzQHp" data-name="HIM World Tribute">HIM World Tribute</a> compilation. After releasing their first full-length album <a href="spotify:album:5PEc08V7xhQvOcDvl5A9fD" data-name="Beckoning Call">Beckoning Call</a>, the band went on Ukrainian tour and was eventually nominated for a Best Ukrainian Metal Act in winter 2019.
During COVID-19 pandemic the band decided to start over and changed the name to Kthona. The reason was that the original concept of the band didn't work well with the new material they began to write shortly after the release of the debut album. Besides new music styles (Nu Metal with elements of Rap, Trap and Industrial), Kthona changed their approach to releasing their music. Instead of recording a new full length album in the studio, the band members started to record and mix their songs themselves, as well as the music videos which are also filmed and edited by the band members.
Debut single <a href="spotify:album:0eArPgqgpmCm0tbpnouOhl" data-name="Cancel My Culture">Cancel My Culture</a> by Kthona was released on April 23, 2021.
Current members: Julie Tallina (vocals), Wayne Fable (drums), Alex "<a href="spotify:artist:6UjbFeQi3CKonm5TFyluvW" data-name="Gedogen">Gedogen</a>" Katerynchuk (bass, samples)
