Born and raised in Brooklyn, KV found a love for music at an early age. Music was abundantly present in his home. His mother sang around the house, his father DJ’d, and his sister loved to dance. Growing up his older cousin would have him write his own songs, and even had him perform for a college audience. This experience helped KVs confidence and ability to write raps all at the age of nine, even giving rap performances for his elementary grade class.
Growing up, he was introduced to the sounds of Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z, Nas, Missy Elliot, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem; It wasn’t until the release of Kanye West’s debut album, “The College Dropout”, that KV learned to grasp lyrical content and truly understand the art of rap. This would encourage him to pursue his true love for rap.
After dropping out of college later in 2014, he released his single “Scholar”, a record that gained him a good deal of attention from friends and family on social media due to its honesty and relatable story. In 2015, KV released his debut mixtape “Just the Beginning”, which featured singles “Can’t Stop Me” and “Scholar”.
KV took a new direction with this craft when he released his self-produced single “Time” in 2019. He further exemplified his artistic talent by also directing the music video for “Time” which racked up over 20,000 views on YouTube.
