Kvikindi is a dance punk phenomenon that is taking the world by storm with groundbreaking sound and brutally sincere lyrics. Their music and storytelling can fill your eyes with tears and make you want to dance like crazy at the same time.
Kvikindi is an Icelandic band formed in Reykjavík in 2019 by Brylla og Frikki.
Brylla is a performance artist, lyric/songwriter and a singer. Her rise to stardom started in 2016 when she won The Music Experiment competition (Músíktilraunir) with her band Hórmónar as well as the title of Best Singer. The band made their mark in the Icelandic music scene, bringing punk-rock to life and playing all over the country. They won People’s Choice of The Grapevine Music Awards in 2017, and were nominated for The Icelandic Music Awards (Íslensku Tónlistarverðlaunin) in 2018 for: Best Live Band, Best Song, Best Record and Brynhildur was nominated for Best Singer. Brynhildur has a BA degree in Theatre and Performance Making from The Iceland University of the Arts (LHÍ).
Friðrik is a classically trained composer and pianist known for his electroacoustic music in theater and dance performances. His opera Nothing is more tragic than the human being was premiered in 2020 to a restricted amount of audience and was well received by critics and theatre-goers. His production is inspired by his love of rhythm, movement and the fusion of various music genres, new and old.
