The story begins with a loner in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, who was born & raised in the U.S, producing absolutely atrocious beats with pirated software in his bedroom. Due to being tortured by his own terrible production, KVMTZ spent hours on Youtube watching tutorials recorded by people who talk too much and clickbait.
A year or so later, KVMTZ embraced the vinyl/cassette/dusty appeal of Lo-Fi Hip Hop & Jazzhop, along with the mellifluous technique of Chillhop. Now armed with an arsenal of mediocre music, his music slowly found a small listener base.
Months later, finally equipped with good music in his holster, KVMTZ blasted his way onto music blogs like Stereofox & popular Youtube music channels including the bootleg boy, Fantastic Music, and more. As time went on, inspired by other artists, such as Galimatias, J Dilla, Hablot Brown, Blue Lab Beats, FKJ, and plenty others, KVMTZ began to blend a lot more Soul & Jazz into his beats. This new musical venture, along with his previous accomplishments, caught the eye of a few prominent independent record labels, culminating in projects such as From the Soul & Midnight Cruise. With only one collaboration (within the Lo-Fi genre), KVMTZ has still managed to place his music in front of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people, along with occasional features on editorial playlists on Spotify, Tidal & Deezer, and even winning local Indie music awards in the Dominican Republic, hosted by Revolución Sonora.
