Born David Kweku Appiah-Kubi; a native of Sunyani yet bred in Abeka—a suburb of Accra, Kweku Afro embodies multiple talents in its most admirable form. An ace performer and entertainer whose current ‘skills in the game’ has been the result of perseverance and the simple ‘will to succeed’ in any musical environment, wherever it may be and at whatever time. Until present, Kweku Afro (once a High School dance great) had spent most of his journey through a life of music without much of a choice but the hard way. “I played at popular joints like Fridays, and Fair Gardens with Sky Band to earn a livelihood” he recounts. Kweku Afro would temporarily look away from ‘the dream’ of making it big as a commercial artiste and rather establish himself as one of the finest lead vocalists of live band music in the capital, Accra. His growth has been rapid and the ease to which he complements the many exquisite bands he plays with is a testament to this; ‘The Characters’, ‘FRA!’, ‘de Perfect Band’ are amongst these.
Kweku Afro who is a songwriter, producer, dance choreographer and instrumentalist fuses these skills with a work ethic of pure grit that makes him a recording & performing to reckon with locally, internationally “...and beyond the many galaxies out of this world.” (that is if you believe in life in the stars like this young dreamer,His one wish is that his sound will be carried on so that his love vibration* may reach all.
