Kyle Quentin & The Kyles is less a music project and more an ongoing misunderstanding between a man, a mask, and a sampler.
Despite the plural name, Kyle Quentin & The Kyles is really just one man, several samples, and a mask that says, “Don’t ask.” The project lives somewhere between lofi, jazz, and mild sonic disobedience—like a museum audio guide that slowly goes off-script. The music feels like it was made by someone who owns a sampler, a trench coat, and at least three unread philosophy books.
Rather than tidy compositions, you get deliberate disarray: Atypical drums stumble in confidently, old jazz records peek through like awkward memories, and somewhere underneath it all, a faint voice says: “This probably shouldn’t work.” But it does. Mostly.
