KZ Liz

KZ Liz is a singer-songwriter and composer based in New York City. Her music has an Alt-Pop feel, with a musical theatre influence. She can be compared to artists such as Sara Bareilles, Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson, and The Cranberries. She is inspired by many artists such as Twenty One Pilots and Imagine Dragons. When writing, she pulls from many different inspirations, ranging from her own experiences to others’ experiences she’s witnessed and even direct quotes from movies or tv shows. She got her start in music at an early age, singing at three years old. She taught herself the piano when she was 12, then wrote her first song, “Unbreakable,” shortly after. Writing and composing is a way to escape reality and express herself in ways she didn’t think was possible. After a while of creating, she couldn’t view a future without music, and decided to make a career out of her passion.


She was recently featured on York Calling (2022), an international music and culture blog based in York, UK, for her song “Ocean Waters.” The review stated, “Ocean Waters is characterised by a rolling piano melody, sounding both beautiful and haunting at the same time, with some strings being added eventually. The lyrics are about the pressure of leaving university, with the vocals following the piano lines perfectly, in a rather fast and eccentric fashion. It’s an amazing piece of music and one that definitely deserves to be heard!”
