La Parranda Venezolana is a Venezuelan folk ensemble based in Calgary, blending layered vocals, traditional rhythms, and contemporary arrangements to celebrate the cultural heartbeat of Venezuela. Founded in 2013 under the Cantares Cultural Foundation, the group began by performing traditional repertoire and later evolved to pioneer original Venezuelan folk music in Canada.
Their debut single, “Cuanto se te extraña,” is a joyful yet nostalgic parranda that reflects themes of longing, community, and the Venezuelan diaspora. The song forms part of the ensemble’s Venezuelan Cultural Bridge project, an initiative connecting La Parranda with Venezuelan composers, musicians, and writers around the world to create new, original music rooted in tradition.
With a vibrant sound shaped by collective creation, cultural storytelling, and Venezuelan rhythm, La Parranda Venezolana offers a modern and heartfelt expression of Venezuela’s diverse musical heritage.
