La Sortie was formed by childhood friends under the name of The Feedback Noise in their hometown, El Puerto Santa María, located in the southern-most province of Spain between an American Naval Station and the hometown of legendary flamenco singer Camarón (San Fernando). The three-piece band self-produced two ten-track demo recordings Excuse You (2004) and The Feedback Noise (2005) before their debut album as La Sortie.
La Sortie (2011) was recorded intermittently between fall 2006 and early 2007. Produced by Colin Preston, mixed by Pablo Iglesias in Madrid and mastered in New York by Andy Vandette, it was not released until 2011 since the band took a hiatus to develop their professional careers outside of music. Recorded with both English and Spanish lyrics, only the latter was published. It included two tracks featured in the soundtrack of Unnatural Causes (Sony Pictures 2008) starring Angus Macfayden and Tara Reid, and a song with Barcelona based Unfinished Sympathy’s singer, Eric Fuentes.
In 2013, the band reunited while working in Germany and recorded Volcanoes (2014) back home at Javier Ruibal's Lo Suyo Studios during summer vacation from their daily jobs. The band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2015 as their members split across New York City, Barcelona and Granada (Spain). During this time, their guitarist and vocalist worked on solo project Sparks (2018), a 5 songs EP recorded at studios in New York, Buenos Aires, Budapest, Gdansk and Annecy.
