Lacee is a modern soul singer steeped in the classic Southern traditions that stretch back to Muscle Shoals and Memphis. Lacy Yvonne Reed claims the latter city as her hometown and it's there that she started singing in church with her mother, JoAnn Reed. Music became a vocation and in 2006 she released her debut album, Songstress, on Loveland Records. Songstress made an impact, helping her win the International Female Vocalist of the Year Award in Jackson, Mississippi's Jackson Music Awards. From that point on she worked steadily, performing and releasing an album every two or three years. In 2009, she signed with <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Advantage%22">Advantage</a> and delivered Lacee's Groove, which helped broaden her audience.
