Ladyship is a six-piece indie art rock band from Delhi. We lean hard on the collaborative spirit of songwriting, and our debut EP is a true reflection of the band’s collective efforts, where each member’s input shaped the final sound. Drinking For The First Time pulls from a variety of genres - from indie, post and blues rock to bedroompop, disco and funk. We wanted to create an album that feels lived in yet incomparable and fresh.
Drinking For The First Time was recorded and mixed entirely in our home studio, allowing us the freedom to take the first step towards discovering our sonic identity. Using a combination of warm analog mixers, microphones, amps and digital plugins we've blended the old with the new - even incorporating film samples to add an atmospheric depth to certain tracks. But the aim was never to achieve a polished, studio-perfect sound. Instead, we focused on capturing the feel of our live sessions—the sound that exists in the room when we play together.
Our sound embraces the imperfections that come with experimentation, yet remains highly intentional in its structure. We hope the result is music that feels alive, raw, and full of personality. The kind of music that doesn’t reveal everything on the first listen, but invites you to come back and discover something new each time you hit play.
