Lakely is an Americana/Folk duo with an organic, narrative-first approach to the genre, taking their own brand of Swedish melancholia and dressing it up in a North American suit.
'Cold War' is their latest release, recorded entirely in the Swedish countryside by the duo, both music producers. The album was written on the front porch of a log cabin in the north of Sweden, among the lakes and evergreens after the duo moved home again after a year in Nashville, TN. Those serene surroundings, combined with inspiration from the new Nashville sound is what creates their unique hifi-vintage shimmering Scandicana.
The album consists of nine songs heavily weighted in storytelling motifs that capture picture-perfect moments in time. From the pain of growing apart ("Compromise"), the fear and joy of falling in love again ("Feels Like I've Never Felt This Way Before"), or the long wait for wounds to heal ("Time"), Lakely bring out the beauty in life, even during its most complex moments.
