Lale Koçgün was born in 1983 in Mainz and comes from a Kurdish-Alevi family from Sivas-Imranlı. Her musical career began at a young age when she discovered and explored the traditional music of her homeland. She also learned to play the folk instrument "Bağlama," marking the start of her journey to her cultural roots. In 1999, she began her musical education in music theory, Bağlama, and guitar at the "Veroz" music school. The new musical influences she gained there significantly shaped her style. At the age of 16, she gained her first stage experience at cultural events in the Rhine-Main area. Over a long period, she performed at many concerts and founded an ensemble during this time. At the Mainz World Music Academy, Lale Koçgün learned to play the three-stringed Tembur and took vocal lessons. She has already performed at renowned music festivals such as the Rudolstadt World Music Festival. In 2016, she released her first album, "Sırr-ı Dem." In October 2023, her second album, "Payda," was released. She is currently working on a duo project with Ali Eren Yüksel. Together, they will soon release their first song, "Leyli Turnam," followed by four more songs from Mesopotamia and Anatolia, in Kurdish, Zazaki, and Turkish, which will be compiled into an EP album by the duo. In parallel, she also participates as a solo artist in collaboration projects, duo projects, or as a background singer on other albums.
