LAMILA

LAMILA is a Viennese indie pop duo led by singer-songwriter Camilla Thurner and multi-instrumentalist Alexander Hoffmann. Founded in 2019 as an originally purely acoustic folk project, it became clear from their debut single Dandelion Crown in summer 2020 that they would not be confined by this narrow framework. The band's sound moves eclectically between contemporary Fleet Foxes-style indie pop, folk from the Summer of Love era and electronic and jazzy set pieces, but as if from a single source. Folk guitars from the 1960s à la Joni Mitchell or Nick Drake meet gently sparkling, playful analog synth sounds and noise fragments in the style of Radiohead and Bon Iver. The sound is always held together by Camilla Thurner's intimate, gentle, breathy falsetto voice, whose stories, in harmony with the music, create picturesque mental worlds and a feeling somewhere between gentle lightness and (sometimes melancholy) nostalgia. LAMILA's debut album Withered Dream was released in 2021, a nostalgic indie folk trip between fading dreamscapes and the romance of nature.
