Melbourne guitarist, songwriter and producer Lance Ferguson has become one of the key figures in Australian Soul music. Across The Bamboos, Cookin’ On 3 Burners, Lanu, Rare Groove Spectrum, Menagerie, Machines Always Win and The Ferguson Rogers Process he has tirelessly explored Funk, Jazz, Soul, Beats, Disco and Electronica with an effortless sense of class, style and groove.
Formed in 2000 by Ferguson during the now revered early noughties Deep Funk revival, The Bamboos were the first Australian funk / soul act to be signed to an overseas label and then the first to tour overseas, blowing away audiences across Europe and the UK four times over.
They soon evolved into a more complex blend of modern songwriting and classic soul arrangements. Across 11 studio albums they have been nominated for numerous awards and have been invited to play many of the country’s top music festivals.
Ferguson was a founding member of Melbourne trio Cookin’ On 3 Burners and their 2009 track “This Girl”, which featured Kylie Auldist on vocals, was discovered on Youtube by a young French DJ and producer who then requested to remix the track. Released in 2016 the new track became one of the biggest hits of that year worldwide and in 2019 it reached the milestone of hitting over a billion streams. With Ferguson’s distinctive guitar riff the song has been featured in countless commercials, films and TV shows since then.
In 2017 he released 'Raw Material', the first album under his own name.
