In 2014 Dave Gibbons (bass/vocals), Andy Fish (guitar), Andy ‘D-Dog’ Downton (guitar) and drummer Chris 'Sid' Harrison found themselves coincidentally living in the same part of Devon, UK long after their musical careers had ended. Each had a solid indie or punk background: Gibbons had been in The Mandelbrot Set and Reuben before crossing paths with Fish in F.O.N.D. whilst Downton’s Bubba Doc and Harrison’s Strawberry Fields were long disbanded. Early jams escalated into studio and live sessions: 2017’s Accidental Arsonist showcased their first hit, Telephone Head and a more diverse collection, Sunday Morning, followed in 2018 gaining a following in the USA and Scandinavia, although it failed to match its predecessor's impact. An ep of early demos, Smartbomb, was a patchy snapshot of the band finding its feet in 2016. Hi-fi Drive-by was released ahead of compilation The Cream Of Landspeeder as they worked with legendary producer Clive Langer (Bowie/Costello/Madness), performed sell-out shows with The Distractions and Subhumans and won ‘Favourite Punk Band’ at Music Expo, a description the band resisted although they still accepted the award. Octopus was released in May 2020 amidst COVID-19; Hey!, charted in early 2023 followed by The Midland Mysteries in May 2024, Motherlover in December the same year and Get Bent dropped in early 2025 just as Fish’s health issues caused his departure, Gibbons taking on the guitar role and bass duties falling to new boy Richard Platts.
