Lapel formed in Chester, England in 1997. They regularly performed around north west England as a five piece alternative rock band, playing at venues such as Jones's Wine Bar, Telford's Warehouse in Chester, Joseph's Well in Leeds, and The Flying Picket in Liverpool.
Drawing influence from Bowie, Led Zeppelin, U2, Radiohead, Jellyfish, The Beatles, Mansun, Muse and Gene, Lapel crafted their own original material. The band's lineup was Rees Davies (vocals / acoustic guitar), Rob Parkin (electric guitar), Didge (electric piano & organ), Andrew Fenna (bass) and Neil Roberts (drums). Two years after their formation, Chris Fletcher replaced Fenna on bass and backing vocals.
In 2001, with Rees Davies emigrating to France, Lapel disbanded, leaving a small collection of dynamic and infectious anthems, the majority of which featured on the album Let It Flow. Their final gigs were at The Rock Garden, Covent Garden; The Bull & Gate, Kentish Town and The Flying Picket, Liverpool.
Some 25 years after it's original recording "Let It Flow" has been remastered and published on streaming services to allow a wider audience to listen to and appreciate their work. Since then, more demos and unreleased material has emerged. Stay tuned.
