Latenite Automatic released their latest album titled “Wahrheiten” - German for “Truths” in March of 2023.
The duo has created a sometimes dark and brooding, sometimes uplifting, propulsive and anthemic album. The two core members are in top form; all the while creating music together from opposite sides of the world - Vienna and Vancouver.
Latente Automatic was created in 2010. In dark rooms, on beaten up laptops, two Alberta born songwriters, Jay Brown and Scott Whalen, met in Vancouver and began writing music equally influenced by the likes of Depeche Mode, Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, R.E.M., Killing Joke, as well as many post-punk and goth acts. What came together was a uniquely dark and infectious blend of rock guitar riffs, killer beats, sexy synthesizers, lush piano, laptop loops, extensive vocal harmonies, melody, mayhem and a general disregard for convention.
This recipe yielded two albums, "You Are Electric?" (2013), "They Treated Us Like Animals..." (2016) and an EP "Deity" (2020).
Now Latenite Automatic is unveiling new music, fashioned with the same sensibility as its previous work but executed with a more mature and direct approach. Older, wiser and more self-aware, Latenite Automatic has delivered a dark, menacing 8 song album that questions past mistakes, considers the fragility of all relationships and looks for light in the darkness of uncertain times, all the while searching for the truth.
