Based out of New York, Later Larry officially came together as a band in October 2024. The group has played several NYC venues together, including Pete’s Candy Store, The Bowery Electric, The Delancey, Silvana, NuBlu Classic, and The Gin Mill. Lead singer and guitarist <a href="spotify:artist:1AkxP53dWheVyp7jAMiI5q" data-name="Maxwell Bailey">Maxwell Bailey</a> found his roots in the local songwriter scene of Boston in 2015, where he originally met <a href="spotify:artist:3wWbGkEOivqan7V8GY5ZUy" data-name="Alec Hutson">Alec Hutson</a>—the group’s saxophone player and frontman for <a href="spotify:artist:6Qrp52w3x5Veah0npQdFph" data-name="Death by Comet">Death by Comet</a>. Since then, the two relocated to New York and formed Later Larry alongside bassist Dan Blaushild, drummer Chris Mizell, and keyboardist/guitarist Ilvi Calderon—whose other projects include <a href="spotify:artist:28B5xP0nVcMWai5fDQIVuk" data-name="c0degray">c0degray</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2TJPo2ycm9kGbyRC9qcWkL" data-name="Underblue">Underblue</a>.
Folk lyricism and soul-inspired vocals blend with distorted finger-style electric guitar, neo soul chord progressions, blues riffs, and hip-hop rhythms to form Later Larry’s eclectic body of material. The band released its debut self-titled EP <a href="spotify:album:0hIo7ff7qkJct8fcz9zlNd" data-name="Later Larry">Later Larry</a> with the talented artist and producer <a href="spotify:artist:12aoH2xOHt50h3jVT8WA2N" data-name="John Shakespear">John Shakespear</a> in October 2025.
