Laura Chavez is a blues guitarist form Mountain View, California who has been lazily compared to everyone from <a href="spotify:artist:5fsDcuclIe8ZiBD5P787K1">Stevie Ray Vaughan</a> to <a href="spotify:artist:5dCuFngSPyOOnTAvrC7v2s">Freddie King</a>, yet whose playing style and sound are unique. Her influence is rooted in both the Texas and Chicago blues traditions (classic to modern) but is also informed by rock & roll guitarists such as <a href="spotify:artist:55bGuHb50r5c0PeqqMeNBV">Jimmy Page</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:4tkgLX1wdWoOu2lyeQNYAi">Mick Taylor</a>.
Chavez began playing with singer and songwriter <a href="spotify:artist:5UMOGJsNWYpKtiHei3AR2s">Lara Price</a> when she was 18 and remained in her band for eight years, touring and collaborating with other blues musicians during her tenure. Chavez also formed her own band and began playing the international blues circuit, sharing stages with everyone from <a href="spotify:artist:65SzANOjjJbCdHGbjDkPMU">Bob Margolin</a> to Rene Solis.
In late 2008, singer and songwriter <a href="spotify:artist:70svT4F0xhbyQ5lQx6UE4b">Candye Kane</a>, in search of a permanent lead guitarist, asked <a href="spotify:artist:6bp17u6Ya0RGnEobNVGvwS">Sue Foley</a> who she might recommend. Without hesitation, <a href="spotify:artist:6bp17u6Ya0RGnEobNVGvwS">Foley</a> endorsed Chavez. <a href="spotify:artist:70svT4F0xhbyQ5lQx6UE4b">Kane</a> so respected the guitarist's opinion, she hired Chavez without hearing or meeting her.

The pair became inseparable collaborators, and Chavez became the musical director for <a href="spotify:artist:70svT4F0xhbyQ5lQx6UE4b">Kane</a>'s band for 2011's applauded album Sister Vagabond.
