UK singer/songwriter Laura Ige (pronounced eegay), has a wealth of experience as a performer and songwriter. The Birmingham-based singer has sung with various bands, recorded and toured in Europe with her own band, and worked on numerous community music projects.
A powerful and versatile vocalist, Laura effortlessly moves from style to style whilst jazz undertones are always present.
“I grew up around reggae, jazz, soul, R&B and a whole load of other stuff but I guess I’m inclined towards jazz – I’m told I’ve a ‘jazzy-sounding’ voice!”
Laura’s first single ‘You are the One’, recorded as the vocal group Sweet Harmony, was released on the PCRL record label. Her single ‘All Night Loving’ was later released, with the Silicon Squad Crew.
After spending time recording in Holland, Laura returned to the UK where she focused on writing and performing at functions and events.
Laura Ige was ‘absent’ from the music scene for a number of years.
She now returns with her new single ‘Light of Love’, a ‘bouncy’, rocksteady-jazz throwback.
Light of love is dedicated to Laura Ige’s late father, inspired by his love for jazz – particularly the music of John Coltrane. This wonderful, heart-warming tune evokes memories of yesteryear, whilst delivering a positive message for today, with its themes of guidance, love and hope. Saxophone is performed by maestro saxophonist, Alvin Davis.
